The first time I learned
about Pottermore, I was so excited that I signed up while I was still at work
and browsed through it even though I was suppose to be working. (I hope my boss
doesn’t read this though) I found about it through none other than Mr. Draco
Malfoy himself, who tweeted that he was placed by the sorting hat, as Tom
Felton, in house Gryffindor. And who would’ve thought right?
You feel nostalgic just
looking and browsing through the site actually. I remember reading the book all
over again. The excitement and gasps I elicited over reading shocking
revelations and turn of events. I even cried hard when Dumbledore got killed, I
was sobbing my heart out actually. So first you have to go through a series of
questions so that the sorting hat can properly place you. And I am proud to say
that I was placed in House Gryffindor. Hurrah!
And one of the few things
you can do in the site is read through the book again via this interactive game
where you find items and get to read some of the new materials JK Rowling
herself has been so nice to include. I think its pretty amazing that she
continues to write these tidbits of stories into the site. I specially enjoyed
reading about the composition of magic wands. Another thing you can do there is
to create potions which pretty much frustrated me during my first few tries.
(I am by the way in my head
speaking in a British accent while writing this if you must know, I just can’t
help myself. *Smirk)
But after a couple of
unsuccessful tries, I was able to satisfactorily create a polyjuice potion. And
another thing to do is join the dueling club, although I find it a bit more
boring than creating potions actually. And a very interesting thing to keep in
mind is that houses are given house points for accomplishing successful
creations of potions and winning duels. Pretty much like the actual Hogwarts
system of things.
So far I have enjoyed my
experience at Pottermore. It makes me want to reread the book since I actually
have forgotten some of the events in the books and I really want to revisit
them again. Go to the site if you haven’t still. It’s pretty fun and be sure to
read through all of JK Rowling’s new stories in the site since it adds up to
that wonderful feeling of being in the Harry Potter realm.
